What Webcam Recorder does

Webcam Recorder captures video from a camera and optional microphone with the browser getUserMedia API. Choose devices, mirror the live preview, use a countdown, and pause or resume while recording.

Playback stays on the page before you save a WEBM file. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

Select Refresh devices if the camera or mic list is empty, then pick devices.
Set mirror and countdown, then Start and grant permission.
Pause and Resume as needed, then Stop.
Play back the clip and download the WEBM.

Formats and limits

Output: WEBM via MediaRecorder (VP8 or VP9 when available).

Settings explained

Mirror preview: Flips the live preview horizontally. The saved file is not mirrored.
Include microphone: Records an audio track from the chosen mic when enabled.

FAQ

Why are device names blank?

Browsers hide labels until permission is granted. Refresh devices after allowing access.
