What Screen Recorder does

Screen Recorder captures the screen, a window, or a browser tab with the browser getDisplayMedia API. Optional microphone and tab or system audio can be included when the browser offers them.

Chromium desktop browsers have the broadest support for screen capture and system audio. Firefox supports screen capture with more limited audio. Safari support is limited. Recordings save as WEBM; use Video Converter for MP4.

How to use it

  1. Choose microphone and system audio options, and a countdown.
  2. Select Start, grant screen permission, then record. Use Pause and Resume as needed.
  3. Select Stop to finish. Play back on the page, then download the WEBM.

Formats and limits

  • Output: WEBM via MediaRecorder (VP8 or VP9 when available).
  • Convert to MP4 with Video Converter.

FAQ

Why is there no MP4 download?

MediaRecorder typically writes WEBM. Use Video Converter on this site for MP4.
