GIF Joiner

Join animated GIFs one after another, side by side, or stacked, in your browser.

Add two or more GIFs and put them in order. Play them in sequence, or show them side by side or stacked, with sizes matched by fitting or padding and shorter GIFs looped or stretched to match the longest. The preview plays the result.

No GIFs added.

You can also drop files here.

Output
Add GIFs to join.

What GIF Joiner does

GIF Joiner puts several animated GIFs together into one. Play them one after another, show them side by side, or stack them on top of each other. Audio Joiner does the same for sound files.

GIFs of different sizes are matched by scaling them to the first GIF or by keeping their sizes and padding the gaps. When GIFs play at the same time, the shorter ones loop or stretch to the length of the longest.

How to use it

  1. Select Add GIFs and choose two or more GIFs, or drop them on the file row. Adding more puts them at the end.
  2. Under GIFs, drag a GIF by its handle or use the arrow buttons to set the order, and remove any you do not want.
  3. Pick a Layout: One after another, Side by side, or Stacked.
  4. Choose how Sizes are matched and, for side by side or stacked, how Lengths are matched. Pick a background and set Loop.
  5. Watch the preview, then select Download GIF.

Formats and limits

  • Input: GIF files only.
  • Output: a GIF named after the first GIF with -joined added, such as cat-joined.gif.
  • One after another keeps every frame and delay of each GIF, in order.
  • Side by side and stacked last as long as the longest GIF. A new frame starts whenever any of the GIFs changes, and changes closer together than 20 ms are merged, because browsers cannot play faster frames.
  • The frames times the width times the height has to stay under 60 million pixels. If the joined GIF would be larger, the tool says so and Download stays off.

Settings explained

Layout
One after another plays the GIFs in sequence on one canvas. Side by side puts them in a row from left to right. Stacked puts them in a column from top to bottom.
Sizes
Fit to the first GIF scales every GIF to the size of the first: the same width and height in a sequence, the same height side by side, and the same width stacked. Keep sizes and pad leaves every GIF at its own size and centers it, with the background around it.
Lengths
For side by side and stacked. Loop the shorter GIFs repeats them until the longest one ends. Stretch the shorter GIFs slows them down so each plays once in that time.
Transparent background
On by default. Turn it off to fill empty areas with Background color.
Loop
Forever, Once, or a set number of plays. It starts at the setting of the first GIF added.

Privacy

Your GIFs are decoded and combined in this tab, and the result is encoded in a Web Worker, a background thread of the same page. Nothing is uploaded, and the file is only written when you select Download GIF.

FAQ

Why is the joined GIF so large?

Side by side and stacked GIFs are wide or tall, and a frame is added each time any GIF changes. GIF Resizer or GIF Optimizer can shrink the result.

Why do the colors shift a little?

Each frame holds up to 256 colors. When several GIFs share one frame, their colors share that palette.

Can I add a gap between the GIFs?

Not directly. Keep sizes and pad centers smaller GIFs with the background around them, and GIF Border and Frame can add a border to each GIF before you join them.
