Image To ASCII Art turns a photo into text characters. Choose width, character set, invert, and optional color for the PNG download.

How to use it

Formats and limits

Width
How many characters across the ASCII image spans.
Character set
Standard punctuation, block shades, or a short minimal ramp.
Color in PNG
When downloading PNG, tint each character with the source pixel color.

FAQ

Why does the preview look stretched?

Monospace characters are taller than they are wide. The converter uses a height factor so the art roughly matches the photo.
