What GIF Text Overlay does

GIF Text Overlay adds one or more text layers to an animated GIF. Each layer has its own font, size, color, outline, shadow, background box, and optional fade or typewriter animation.

Start from Classic meme, Caption bar, or Subtitle, or add your own layers and place them on the picture.

How to use it

  1. Select Choose GIF and pick a .gif, or drop one on the file row.
  2. Pick a preset or Add text, then edit the words and style.
  3. Drag the boxes on Place Text, or set the frame range for when each layer shows.
  4. Select Download when the preview looks right.

Formats and limits

  • Input: one GIF file.
  • Output: one GIF named after the source with -text, such as clip-text.gif.
  • Caption bar adds a white band above the GIF in the output.

Settings explained

Presets
Classic meme places Impact-style Anton text at the top and bottom. Caption bar adds a white band above the GIF. Subtitle puts a translucent bar near the bottom.
Fonts
The bundled OFL fonts from TOOL-005 load when you open a GIF, before text is drawn on the canvas.
Animation
Fade in and out uses the fade frame counts inside the layer range. Typewriter reveals the text across that range.

Privacy

Fonts and drawing stay in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

Why is Download disabled at first?

The tool waits until the bundled fonts are ready so the preview and the download match.
